PEG MGF Research Information

PEGylated Mechano Growth Factor

For Muscle Growth & Regenerative Research

What is PEG MGF?

PEG MGF (PEGylated Mechano Growth Factor) is a synthetic 24-amino acid peptide derived from the insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) gene, modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) to extend its half-life and biological activity. It is a splice variant of IGF-1 that is expressed in response to muscle damage and mechanical loading.

PEGylation increases the half-life of MGF, allowing for sustained biological activity and less frequent dosing. MGF plays a crucial role in muscle satellite cell activation and muscle repair. PEG MGF is available in pen and freeze-dried vial formulations for research purposes.

How PEG MGF Works

PEG MGF works through multiple mechanisms to support muscle growth and repair:

Satellite Cell Activation

Activates muscle satellite cells for muscle repair and growth

PEGylation

PEG modification extends half-life and increases bioavailability

Muscle Repair

Promotes muscle regeneration and recovery after exercise

PEG MGF is distinct from regular IGF-1 as it specifically targets muscle satellite cells and promotes muscle stem cell proliferation, rather than systemic growth effects.

Research Applications

Muscle Growth

Studying satellite cell activation and muscle hypertrophy

Tissue Repair

Investigating muscle regeneration and recovery mechanisms

Sarcopenia Research

Studying age-related muscle loss and therapeutic interventions

IGF-1 Splice Variant Research

Investigating MGF-specific signaling pathways

Clinical Studies

Satellite Cell Activation

  • MGF specifically activates muscle satellite cells, promoting muscle repair
  • Plays a crucial role in the early response to muscle damage
  • PEGylation extends half-life for sustained biological activity

Muscle Repair & Regeneration

  • MGF is expressed in response to mechanical loading and muscle injury
  • Promotes myoblast proliferation and differentiation
  • Distinct from systemic IGF-1 effects

Key Research Findings

  • MGF is a splice variant of the IGF-1 gene
  • Specifically targets muscle tissue for localized effects
  • PEGylation improves pharmacokinetics and therapeutic potential

️ Safety & Precautions

PEG MGF is generally well-tolerated at recommended doses. However, human safety data is limited as it is an investigational research peptide.

  • Injection site reactions: Mild redness or tenderness at injection site
  • Muscle soreness: Occasional and mild
  • Headache or fatigue: Rare

Important Safety Considerations:

  • PEG MGF is not FDA-approved for any indication
  • Human data is very limited; most research is preclinical
  • Do not use if allergic to PEG MGF or any ingredients
  • Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding

️ Warning: PEG MGF is an investigational peptide with limited human safety data. If you experience severe allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, or signs of anaphylaxis, seek immediate medical help.
