IGF-1 Ec Isoform E-Peptide

Mechano Growth Factor E-Peptide for Tissue Repair Research

Important: This information is for educational and research purposes only. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional before use.

What is IGF-OES?

IGF-OES (IGF-1 Ec or Mechano Growth Factor E-peptide) is a peptide derived from the E-domain of the IGF-1 gene, produced by alternative splicing. The E-peptides are the C-terminal extensions of the pro-IGF-I molecule with a 24-amino acid sequence.

The IGF-1Ec isoform (MGF) has been mainly associated with muscle regeneration processes.

Mechanism of Action

IGF-OES functions through multiple pathways:

MAPK Pathway

E-peptides activate ERK1/2 phosphorylation without affecting Akt

IGF-IR Independent

Effects not mediated via IGF-1R, insulin receptor, or hybrid receptors

Apoptosis Inhibition

E-domain peptide inhibits intrinsic apoptotic pathway

E-peptides enhance IGF-I receptor activity by augmenting IGF-I signaling through the MAPK pathway.

Research Applications

Muscle Repair

Satellite cell activation and fusion, muscle regeneration studies

Cardiac Research

Preservation of cardiac function, inhibition of pathologic hypertrophy

Tendon Research

Tenocyte migration, tendon repair, FAK-ERK1/2 signaling

Cancer Research

Prostate cancer biology, tumor growth and progression studies

Clinical Studies

  • IGF-1Ec expression significantly higher in prostate cancer tissues
  • Expression correlates with tumor stage; higher expression in Stage III/IV
  • MGF E peptide possesses mitogenic activity independent of IGF-1R
  • E-peptide promotes cellular proliferation by activating ERK1/2 pathway
